March 4-2010  Gunfire erupts amidst  busy crowd of transit riders as lone gunman believed to be an AMERICAN citizen attempts to shoot his way pass a Security Checkpoint and enter the Defense Departments headquarters.The gunman was met by the immediate return fire of 2 policeman who were injured by the gunman before critically wounding him.Subsequently all Pentagon entrances were secured and reopened with the exception of the subway. No passengers were reported to be injured in the rush hour gun battle. The redesigning of the subway passenger disembarkment in the aftermath of  September 11, 2001 has proven to be calculated quite wisely.
